I was born with a deeply compassionate outlook and desire to give back. I have worked & volunteered in the many diverse Chicago neighborhoods I grew up in. Born to a single mother, I learned the complexities of poverty and homelessness and channeled my knowledge to help others. I moved to Lake County in 2005, where I worked on an interdisciplinary team to provide responsible rehabilitated treatment & services to psychiatrically and developmentally disabled clients for 15 years. I have an undying passion for saving the world in any way I can...one person at a time.

Hi, my name is Shelby Mays.
I’m from the Waukegan area and I take great pride in helping my community. I am married with four kids and seven grandchildren. My hobbies are fishing, drag racing and going to car shows. My goal is to help others that aren’t able to help themselves and to be an intricate part of helping them evolve into a stable place in their lives. The Let’s build foundation is my way of helping rebuild the foundation of my community.
